My name is Marlon Garnett. I am from Los Angeles, California where I was born and raised. I attended Hamilton High School in Los Angeles and was fortunate to receive a full basketball scholarship to Santa Clara University from 1993 – 1997 and graduated receiving a degree in finance. During my studies, I also enjoyed a successful basketball career where I played three years with two-time MVP and NBA Star Steve Nash.

After graduating, I began my pro basketball career in Europe. After one season, I was given the opportunity to play in the NBA with the Boston Celtics. Challenged with some injuries which cut my NBA career short, I returned to playing in Europe and have continued my career there to date. I have moved my permanent address from California and now reside in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. I am married to my lovely wife Anais, and have two beautiful little girls, Amaia and Sarai.

I come from a background and upbringing based on the foundations and teachings of Christ and continue in my commitment to serving and glorifying my Almighty God. The Grace of God has brought me to where I am today. God has blessed me with a prosperous and fulfilling basketball career in which I have accomplished my dreams. To Him I am grateful. In Luke 12:48, the Bible says, “To whom much is given, from him much will be required.” So let me be a vessel to help you attain and reach your own goals and dreams.

Assistant Trainer

Team Garnett is pleased to welcome Assistant Trainer Antwuan Holt to our team!  Antwuan was born in California but raised in East Lansing, Michigan where the love of playing basketball was birthed at a very early age.  He started playing at the young age of four and his passion for basketball persisted and grew into a successful playing career.  As a standout player for Okemos High School basketball team, he helped lead his team to consecutive league and district championships in the final two prep seasons.  A two year varsity starter and letter-winner, he earned both team and conference MVP Award recognition as a senior in 2001-2002.  He was a fourth-team all-state honoree and earned first-team all-conference.  With the tutelage and guidance under head coach Dan Stolz, he continued his career at Northern Michigan University.  In his first two seasons at NMU, Holt ranked as the Wildcats’ third-leading scorer (10.1 ppg) and guided NMU to a 16-12 overall record and a third place 10-8 league mark in 2003-04. He posted team bests in minutes (792), made free throws (63), assists (63), steals (39) and three-point percentage (.434) while starting 23 contests. Holt, who appeared in all 28 outings, totaled 12 double-figure scoring performances.

After two good seasons at Northern Michigan University, Holt transferred to Ferris State University where he claimed the team’s Most Improved Player Award honors as Ferris State won its second consecutive GLIAC North Division Championship and advanced to the NCAA-II Sweet Sixteen.  Antwuan Holt picked up the Coaches Award after earning second-team All-GLIAC North Division recognition. Holt claimed the league’s Player of the Week Award once and is also presently listed second among FSU’s overall leaders in made three-point field goals.

Upon finishing his collegiate career, Holt played professionally overseas one year in Sweden for Boras Basket. Antwuan’s experience and wealth of basketball knowledge will be a great asset to Team Garnett Basketball Academy and his intensity and concentration to detail as a player will translate well to his coaching/training style that will be contagious for the players.
